Current Jets Administration Stepping Down


Now that the Jets Season is over and after four years of operating the Morinville Jets, Dan and Roland Blackburn, and their board of directors are stepping down. A new group headed by Brent Melville will take the team over after the AGM likely to be held in May. A tribute was held at the Jets annual awards banquet honoring the Blackburn Brothers. The Blackburns would like to express their sincere thanks to all the current and former Board Members, Coaches, and Players, for their dedication and commitment during this time. The Blackburns are excited with what the future holds for the Jets, with a new Board of Direcotors taking over and bringing in new perspectives, new ideas, and new energy to the organization. Go Jets!




Jets Annouce New President

At the May 5th AGM, Brent Melville was elected as the new Presidnt of the Morinville Jets. Also voted in was Vice-President/GM, Wayne Gatza. The new administration is ready to get going and are preparing for the spring camp coming up on May 14th & 15th. Brent, Wayne, and returning Coach Scott Rodda are looking forward to evaluating their propects and moving forward toward training camp and tryouts later this summer.

Jets have a strong pre-season

The Jets went 4-1 in the pre-season out scoring their opponents 24-9 in the last four games. The only defeat came in their first game a 6-0 lost to Westaskiwin Iceman, but they rebound in the Fort Sask Hawks pre-season tournament with wins over the Hawks 9-3, the Bruins 6-3 and the Merchants 3-2. On Wednesday night the Jets played the NWJHL champions for the past 3 yrs the Whitecourt Wolverines defeating them 6-1 to close out their pre-season. The team has added some new players who just finished their Midget AAA local product Cameron Melville, Brady McCorriston and Troy Roberts from St.Albert and Tyler Kampjes from Gibbons plus the additions of Brad Miller and Michael Brown former Midget AAA goalies. These players coupled with the returning veteran core should led the Jets to a very successful season. Home sunday games have been moved to 6:45pm come see your Jets in action this season!!!
Jets open season with a WIN!

The Jets opened the 2011-2012 season at open on Sunday night against the Leduc Riggers with a 5-2 win and outshooting their opponents 51-27. Leading the way for the jets was the line of Brady McCorriston 1 goal 3 assists, Keagon Arcand  1 assist and Dalen Paul 3 goals. Nick Pratt scored the other Jet goal from Ryan Hauptman and Justin Proulx. Brad Miller was solid in the net stopping 25 of 27 shots, both goals against the jets were pp goals. The PK  was 2-7 (72%) while the PP was 1-4 (25%). Overall a solid night by all 4 lines who next see action Friday Sept 25th against the St.Albert Merchants at 8pm Akinsdale.
Jets down Merchants 3-1

The Jets defeated the Merchants 3-1 on Friday night in the unfriendly arena of the Merchants. Brad Miller was once again solid in net stopping 25 of 26 shots during the game and was the star of the game as the Jets played shorthanded for 30 mins of the game. In the second straight game the only goal to beat him came by way of the playpower! Their PK was 14/15 while their PP was 0-2 and they missed on a penalty shot. Scoring for the Jets was  Keagan Arcand from Tyler Kampjes and Jordy McRae (ES), Dalen Paul from Nick McRae and Keagan Arcand (ES) and Brady McCorriston from Brayden Arcand (SH).
Jets next action sees them play the Spruce Grove Regals at home on Sunday.
